To get started in the MineFactory mod, you must find Rubber Trees which generate as part of World Terrain Generation. Chop down a Rubber tree to get some Rubber Wood and Raw Rubber.

Smelt Raw Rubber to make Rubber Bars, which are then used to make Plastic.
