Buildcraft Engines
Redstone Engine
The weakest engine in Buildcraft. It will run if it recieves a redstone signal. It can only be used in conjunction with the Wooden Transport and Fluid Pipes to extract items or liquids from blocks with inventories. It cannot be used to power Buildcraft machines and will not connect to Kinesis Pipes. |

Stirling Engine
Produces 10 RF per tick. Connect this engine to Buildcraft machines to give them power. The engine will be turned on if it recieves a redstone stignal. But it will only produce energy as long as it has a supply of solid fuel, such as Coal. If you keep the engine on without powering anything it will store the energy internally, and if it builds up too much energy it will explode. You can connect Kinesis pipes to transport the energy. The engine will only output energy to a Wooden Kinesis pipe. |

Combustion Engine
This engine will be turned on if it recieves a redstone signal. It will only produce energy if it is given a supply of liquid fuel. This engine produces 30 RF per tick if it is running off of Oil, and produces 60 RF per tick if it is running off of Fuel. This engine must also be fed a supply of water to keep it cool. This engine will explode if it gets too hot or is left running without powering anything. You can connect Kinesis pipes to transfer the energy but it will only connect to Wooden Kinesis pipes. Additionally, as this video explains, you can also cool Combustion Engines by inserting Ice into them. |
