There are 2 versions of the Calendar program, a Game Maker version and a .NET version made using Visual Studio. Both are in working order, and both pretty much operate the same way. They are incompatible with each other though. Most Windows users should already have the .NET Framework installed, but it will prompt you to download it if you don't have it.

The Calendar program displays the current week, the days arranged vertically with Sunday at the top. In each day you can write 3 lines of text and this text is saved in a data file. The current day is highlighted in bright green. There are week skip and year skip buttons on the bottom to go forward and backward. You can highlight days yourself by clicking on the space on the left where the date is displayed and the day will have a red background. You can only highlight days in the future.

This program keeps track of 15 holidays (except Easter becuase the Easter holiday is calculated using a more complex method and I can't get the data from your computer.) Holidays are automatically highlighted in a purple color and the first line of text is replaced with the Holiday name. Your markers override the purple holiday highlight feature. I think in the Game Maker version allows you to specify your own custom special days such as someone's birthday or anniversary. When the Calendar program finds one of these days it highlights it in cyan.
